The image below shows the location of where Roth Studios was located, when the above photo was taken. Thanks to Rod McCarrell for sending me the Google Earth image.
Hey Gang....... Dig this cool exterior shot of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's shop in the early 60's. Some of the wildest cars, painting, pinstriping and monster shirts came out of here. This was at 4616 Slauson Avenue, Maywood, California.
HEY PETER.... THANKS FOR DIGGIN' MY DRAG FINK SITE! I APPRECIATE THAT. I ALSO CHECKED OUT YOUR AWESOME SITES, INCLUDING YOUR PHOTO SITE. QUITE IMPRESSIVE WORK. i REALLY DIG BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY. I WAS ALSO INTO DIRT BIKES IN THE EARLY 70'S, BEFORE I STARTED BUILDING HOT RODS AND DRAG RACING MACHINES. IT SURE RUNS THROUGH OUR BLOOD. TAKE CARE PETER AND THANKS, BUDDY. TALK SOON AND STAY WELL. YOUR CARTOON DRAG FINK PAL.....JEFF
I've always liked cartoons, animation, hot rods and drag racing. Ed "Big Daddy" Roth was my first great inspiration to draw. Other inspirations were Charles Shultz, Chuck Jones (who mentored me and started me in the animation business), Jack Davis of Mad Magazine fame, M.C. Escher and Tex Avery. I've been working in the animation business for 20 years and currently at Nickelodeon Animation producing Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go! and Ni hao Kai-lan. Prior to Nickelodeon. Also while at Nickelodeon, I created and produced The Finster Finster Show! short for Frederator. Earlier in my animation career I worked at Chuck Jones Productions, Spumco, Warner Bros. Walt Disney Studios, Universal, DreamWorks, FOX Kids Network, and Carsey Werner NBC. I'm married with three cartoon kids and originally from NJ. I also like TV shows of the 50's and 60's and love watching cartoons especially early MGM and Warner Bros cartoons. I've been also honored by becoming an official Ed "Big Daddy" Roth artist and is the official Ed "Big Daddy" Roth artist of the year for 2008!!!! As of 2006, I became a member of The Standard 1320 nostalgic drag racing group.
