Harley Earl, Father of the "Dream" Car
Mr. Harley J. Earl / Father of the "Dream" Car / 1893 - 1969
Harley Earl was an automotive stylist, engineer and industrial engineer. His most famous time was with General Motors from 1927 until 1959, where he became Vice President of Design. He is remembered as the first styling chief in the United States automobile industry, the originator of clay modeling of automotive designs, the wraparound windshield, the hardtop sedan, factory two-tone paint and tail fins. Which he introduced on the 1948 Cadillac.
This was top-drawer concept styling for it's day! Check out those hidden headlights, grill, wraparound bumper, flush door handles and hood ornament! Buick took it's cue from this car in following years. Pretty boss looking stuff!
There's big Harley behind the wheel of the Buick Y-Job.

PETE MILLAR CARTOONIST / DRAG RACER
HEY ALL YOU PETE MILLAR "DRAG CARTOONS" FANS!!!
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I SPENT A GOOD AMOUNT OF TIME READING PETE MILLAR'S DRAG CARTOONS IN THE BACK OF CLASS DURING THE 60'S AND 70'S.
PETE, WAS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, THE GREATEST DRAG RACING CARTOONIST OF ALL TIME.
HIS DRAG RACING SATIRE WAS SECOND TO NONE. BESIDES PUBLISHING HIS OWN DRAG CARTOONS MAGAZINES, HE ALSO WAS A HARD-CORE DRAG RACER. HIS FAMOUS FRONT-ENGINE DRAGSTER NAMED "THE CHICKEN COUPE" WAS REAL BOSS!!!!
PETE ALSO DID CARTOONS FOR ED BIG DADDY ROTH AS WELL. HERE'S A LINK TO THE PETE MILLAR SITE.
TAKE CARE AND WE'LL TALK SOOOON!

ROTH'S ARMED FORCES SHIRT POWER

Hey Ed "Big Daddy" Roth Drag Racing Fans!!!!!!
Here's a real boss shot of Ed's "Yellow Fang" in 1966.
This shot was taken by Mike and Carol Algire of the Standard 1320 Drag Racing Group.
The body was made of aluminum and took Tom Hanna six months to complete.
Steve Swaja designed the car and the chassis was built by Jim Davis.

ED 'BIG DADDY" ROTH'S MYSTERION
Hey all you groovy Ed "Big Daddy" Roth Kats and Kittens!!!
By far, one of my favorite Roth cars is the Mysterion. Built in his Maywood, California studio in 1962, the Mysterion combined two Ford 406 engines, linking up to twin universals on the rear axle. The idea came from dragsters Ed had seen at the drag strip. TV Tommy Ivo and Ed Roth were on the same page! And you gotta dig that great shade of yellow painted by Larry Watson.
